Activities are planned around the person to best fit their capabilities and interests. All activities will be thoroughly assessed and planned and all activities will be considered even if it means working towards a goal for a person. Many activities are done with the person such as Swimming, walking, Visits to the cinema, bowling, eating out, museums and historical trips or even helping them with their own shopping. Activities with the person doesn't necessarily have to be a community activity. Remember activities are planned around the person, so if they feel like just playing kick about in the garden or just wanting help to cook their own meals, we are there to give that support to them.

We also encourage the person to be actively involved in the decision and planning of the activity and try and promote independence where possible.

"My name is Chris; I am 19 years old and have just finished school.

I have been going out with Mike for more than 5 years and we have become good friends.

I enjoy going out for meals, going to the pictures, going swimming and meeting up with Mike for walks and trips out.

Mike is helping me to plan trips and use public transport; this will help me when I am older to get out with friends.

Now I am 19 we can go to the pub for a drink and a chat, sometimes we play pool – we always have a laugh and we tease one another.

Last week I planned a full day out with Mike and it all went to plan – the steam train was on time and the ferry across to Fell Foot Park from Lakeside was quick. We had afternoon tea at Haverthwaite station café and the scones were delicious!

Mike is caring and looks after me well, he knows how to explain things to me and listens carefully when I need to talk to him.

A great mate – fun to be with and reliable."
