GDSK Case Study
Chris
My name is Chris (DOB April 1987). I have Prader Willi Syndrome. I have learning difficulties, mobility problems and diabetes. I live at home with my Mum, Dad and Granny so it is good to get away from them occasionally and be out with Mike.
Mike has been my carer for more then 10 years and in that time we have got to know each other very well. I see Mike for 9 hours each week and we do lots of interesting things together. Mike has helped me to plan days out and do lots of things that I need to practice to become more independent.
We have been on buses, trains, boats and in cars; climbed hills, walked on beaches and shopped in most of the large towns and cities near to my home.
I particularly enjoy shopping for and making a meal for Mike and then going to the pub for a drink afterwards. Mike helps by washing up; he is quite good at that!
Mike always lets me choose what I want to do when I am with him, but he likes me to plan what is going to happen.
